Eradicating child labor from social programs: The case of the Progresando con Solidaridad Program in the Dominican Republic

Publication that presents the compendium of the strategies and tools implemented in the intervention model developed within the framework of the project "Prevention and Eradication of Child Labor and its worst forms in Beneficiary Households of the Progresando con Solidaridad (Prosoli) program", whose objective was to contribute to the prevention and eradication of child labor in children and adolescents who are part of the beneficiary families of Prosoli; and that it is framed in the guidelines, objectives and strategic results of the Roadmap to make the Dominican Republic a country free of child labor and its worst forms.

Methodological guide prepared within the framework of the project “Prevention and eradication of child labor and its worst forms in beneficiary households of the Progresando con Solidaridad (Prosoli) program”. The document - proposal arises from the experience of two training processes designed and applied with Prosoli personnel, with a methodology that integrates theory and practice, aimed at the training of multipliers.

This experience was focused on the prevention and elimination of child labor, risk factors and highly related content such as abuse, violence, gender, children's rights and self-care. However, the methodological recommendations are transferable and adaptable to any social and thematic program to be addressed, even in other Latin American and Caribbean countries.

This publication represents the commitment to address policies to eradicate child labor in Chile and protect adolescent workers. It is a joint effort of the ILO and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare of Chile, generating national and regional strategies to be implemented until 2025.
